11 Things

I got tagged in the 11 questions game by my girl Paige... so here it goes!

Paige's Questions:
1. if you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Do rice crispy treats count?
2. how old were you when you had your first kiss? was it good? My first kiss was on my wedding day. And it was amazing. And I get to kiss him every day.
3. how many pillows do you sleep with? 2 extremely flat, limp, down pillows. One under my head, one covering my arm above my head so it doesn't get cold.
4. what celebrity would you want to spend an afternoon with? what would you do? Carrie Underwood. We would probably wear cowboy hats and go on a lunch date, followed by a ridiculous leg workout so I could figure out how she gets those stems.
5. what's your first memory? I was 3 and there was a baby fox running around our cul de sac. Naturally, I was playing with it. In the neighbor's yard. And then I brought it in my house.
6. harry potter or twilight or the hunger games? Harry Potter every day.
7. if you could live in any decade, what would it be? Probably the 1920's. So romantic!
8. what's your favorite thing about being a girl? Getting all dolled up whenever I feel like it.
9. do you follow any superstitions? Not necessarily superstitious, but totally afraid of the dark and ghosts, etc.
10. do you have any weird talents? what are they? I can do cool tricks on the diving board.
11. what's your favorite song lyric? There are so many... this is so hard! But right this second... I'll take a mushy quote right out of our song "All This Time" by OneRepublic:
"All this time we've been waiting for each other
All this time I was waiting for you"
Also...
"I'm sexy and I know it"...not to be conceited.

Play along and answer the questions in the comments!

Time Flies

But really, it does.
Even though when I think about it, so much happens in all that time.
I just realized today that Trevor has been home from his mission for 3 years now!
I just dug through my old email and found some of the notes we sent each other the weeks before he left for the MTC.
At the risk of everyone gagging at our dorky mushiness, here's a few sweet little excerpts of our story from 5+ years ago:

I'm so proud of you!! I'm sure you'll love it, you'll be great! I can't wait to hear from you.. and send you your cake from across the street!
Much love,
Danielle

True confessions time: I never sent a cake.
I know, I know. I caught a lot flack for that and have since made up for it, I hope.
I was, however, completely twitterpated the whole week knowing that the love of my 16-year long life (that I had seen a total of 5 days ever) was right across the street being a missionary.
I knew this was something big, and I was right.

I should also mention that I left out the email in which he sent me a bunch of his sexy headshots. For my eyes only, sorry.

I'm so glad I have such a vast collection of emails and letters detailing our entire relationship. And I'm so glad this happened:

Dear Diet Ginger Ale,

I know you and your carbonation and artificial sweeteners are not the best for me.
But you are delicious and contain zero calories.
And I love you.

Life Decisions

In case you were wondering, I'm staying blonde.
At least until the end of summer.
It's just too fun, and I'm not done yet.
Almost bought a box of dark brown dye yesterday on a whim.
Glad I decided against it.

Sincerely,
Skinny jeans with ice skates are sexy.

Happy Weekend!

Plugged Ears and Volleyball

Athletic training student for a husband= sweet tickets for volleyball game this weekend.
So fun!
I'm not a huge sports fan, but volleyball is WAY fun to watch. Also, I always support my cougs!
Saturday night my brother and I watched Trevor do his thing, watched BYU volleyball win all 3 of their games, and texted funny things to Trevor from across the gym.
Loved it.

On another note, poor Trevor has plugged ears with his cold.
Totally random, but does anyone know the secret trick to unplugging ears?
This is the WORST part of being sick in my mind, and it's driving him crazy!

We're totally loving this low key Sunday night.
Bread in the brand new bread machine that my darling husband and brother surprised me with this week,
walking around Provo in the dark,
making up for our 1 missed hour of sleep with 3 extra this afternoon,
loving that it's only dusky at 7:45.

Also, my sister and I changed up our blog.
New {more fitting} title, more posts.
And there's a giveaway coming this week!

Some Beach

Climbing out of the pool after 2 freezing hours of swimming lessons today sure had me thinking about a place like this:

And speaking of swimming lessons, I have this adorable little boy in one of my classes right now named Bentley. 4 years old, giant smile, never closes his eyes under water, sweet as can be. I somehow ALWAYS get water in my ears during his class (can't imagine why with class full of 4 year olds that can't stop splashing the entire 30 minutes?). I always do the "knock and shake"... you know that dance. Pound on your head and jump on one foot until you can hear again. It took me a bit to catch on, but I realized that every time I do this, Bentley starts knocking on his head too. He just smiles and looks at me, obediently copying my every move. So funny.

Happy Friday!

The Mondays

Today, I had a little case of the Mondays.
Despite the beautiful weather (it got into the 60's!) and lazy morning, I still felt a little blah.
Then I went for a run, and ran a little extra.
Cleaned up the house.
Showered and curled my hair just because.
Read my favorite blogs and all of your comments (love).
Called and vented to my sister.
Walked up to campus to visit my hubs.
Applied for some big girl jobs.
Absolutely adored the warm weather.
Ate ice cream popsicles?
Needless to say, today got much better.
:)

Marching On

We did it! We made it through February!
And you know what, it was not so bad.
For anyone who is wondering, this means that we officially only have ONE more winter in Utah.
And it may only be half a winter.
Thank you world!

Then it will be on to our next adventure.
This could include teaching English in China or Thailand (crossing our fingers!)
Being parents (also crossing our fingers!)
Moving to a faraway part of the nation (somewhere warm)
Physical Therapy school for Trevor
And who even knows what else?

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that a year is a lot shorter than we think.
I'm so happy right now.
Life is good, simple, and pretty carefree.
Someday it will get more complex.
While I'm excited for babies and moving and everything life will bring,
There's plenty of time for all of that.
Right now I'm glad we have right now.

Simple, low-rent apartment.
Date nights consisting of movies at home and cooking together.
Staying up late and sleeping in because we can.
Leaving town at the spur of a moment.
Life is oh, so good.

It's also nice to be looking forward to what's ahead.
Can't wait to research apartments
and schools for our little ones
and running trails
and parts of town
wherever Trevor goes to school.
Camping at the beach in California for a whole week this summer (EEK!)
Being tan again. Oh my whiteness, you need to leave me.

Happy March to you!

Meow

This is about to be the nerdiest post I ever write.

I want a cat. So. Bad.
But I can't have one.
1. Our apartment doesn't allow them.
2. Not the best to have around when you're pregnant (NO I'm not pregnant but the time is coming in a shorter future than the life of a cat)
3. Trevor and cats aren't friends.

I absolutely plan on being a cat lady one day.
I love them.
I email pictures of kittens to Trevor on a regular basis, so he remembers that he's going to have to accept the fact that they will be part of our life.

I just really need a kitten.
P.S. Read this blog.
